The Wisest Man

Psalm 83, 1 Chronicles 29:23-25, 2 Chronicles 1:1, 1 Kings 2:13 thru 3:4, 2 Chronicles 1:2-6, 1 Kings 3:5-15, 2 Chronicles 1:7-13

If you have been in the church world for long you probably were very familiar with today's story.

Solomon's wisdom, it was quite amazing, so amazing that only God could give that kind of insight, direction and discernment.

As I was reading our scriptures for today and realized we were landing on this story I immediately knew where this blog was going to go.  I would pose questions like...

If God told you He was going to give you anything what would you ask for?

The blog might have a catchy title like WWSA, What Would Solomon Ask?

But not gonna go there today.

Instead, I wonder, did you notice what Solomon did earlier the same day God came to him in a dream?

He offered sacrifices to God.

Do you think it was a coincidence God came and asked Solomon What do you want? Ask, and I will give it to you!? later that same day?  I think not.

Which caused me to reflect on my own life...

How many times have I asked God to honor my prayers when I have not first honored Him by offering my life as a living sacrifice (Romans 12:1)?

How would my life be different if I did?

How would Solomon's life had turned out if he had not offered those 1000 burnt offerings?

Would God still had posed that most life changing question to him?

Would he still be declared as the Wisest Man Who Ever Lived?

Just a few thoughts for us to ponder today.

Lord, help me to offer all I have and all I am to you, continually.

Thanks for your blog Tina......a great observation.....I'm sure Solomon offering a sacrifice and honoring God touched the heart of God....

My prayer today is, "Lord, help me to just stop and worship you and be grateful for all your blessings without having a list of things I want you to do for me."

Enjoying so much the chonological bible....can't believe how far we've already come....thanks....
