I Want Jesus More

I mentioned in Sunday's post, Gifts We Bring, how I'm already preparing my CHRISTmas list for 2011.  My list will have 12 special gifts for Jesus and the first gift I plan to bring Him in January is... time.

Our church always begins each new year with a 21 day fast.  Last year we specified the fast to the Daniel Fast, which means we ate no meat, sweets, bread, white rice... yeah all the good stuff we love.

This year everyone will choose the thing or things they crave the most and offer it as a sacrifice for these three weeks.

Although food is something I crave, a lot, I have already been on a restricted eating plan since the day after Thanksgiving.  So the next best thing I crave and would be a sacrifice for me is... sleep.

So my fast, and gift to Jesus, this January will be to get out of my comfy warm bed an hour earlier each morning and spend that time in studying the Word, prayer, and maybe even some exercise.  All things that will allow me to get healthier mentally, spiritually, and physically.

It will not be as easy as it sounds.  Ten of these twenty-one days will be spent in Jordan and Israel.  So with jet lag, the time difference, and very long travel days I am going to want every minute of sleep I can get.

But... I want Jesus more.  So I am gifting Him my time and in return I know He will give back to me way more than I will ever give up for Him.

Give away your life; you'll find life given back- given back with bonus and blessing. Luke 6:38 (Message)

What could be better than bonus and blessings from God?  Nothing.

Yesterday my hubs wrote a great blog with some instruction and insight regarding fasting.  You can click here to read it.

Have a great Thursday,
